Plastic Joints Using Compression Joints

If you are doing some plumbing work in your home, either yourself, or using a professional plumber, and are working with plastic pipework there is a good chance you will have to join to pieces of pipework together. Push fit joints and compression joints are so easy to use. Woolwich Plumbers can fit these types of joints. They are a time saver and also leave no mess after the job is done. Now, how do you make the joint with a compression fitting? The first thing to do is to break the joint down into its various parts and make sure that they are all there. There needs to be two olives, two nuts and of course the fitting itself. Two pipe inserts are definitely required for this type of joint.

Note:
1). Never use Brass Olives with this type of joint.
2). Always use copper as it compresses easily.

Next you must make sure that you push the nut onto the pipe, followed by the olive, now, push one of the pipe inserts into the end of the pipe and push them both fully together. Press the end of the pipe into the fitting, you may need to give it a real push. Depending on what system you're using, the pipe insert will be tight but gives the required support in the joint. A Woolwich Plumber uses all types of joints. There may also be a little rubber seal on it which will create some resistance it will also help to keep it dry. All you need to do now is to repeat the same actions for the other pipe, making sure the parts go on in the right order. The pipe insert is crucial for this to work as without it the plastic pipe will just crush as you compress the olive.
